THE New South Wales Court of Criminal Appeal has dropped five charges against former Federal Court judge Marcus Einfeld.

The court today quashed five charges of perverting the course of justice.

Mr Einfeld now faces four charge,s including one of making a false statement with intent to pervert the course of justice and three related to making false statements on oath.

The charges relate to a case in which he is alleged to have lied about who was behind the wheel of his car when it was clocked by a speed camera.

Justice Bruce James has listed Einfeld's trial to begin on November 3 in the NSW Supreme Court.
The trial has already been delayed once due to medical reasons.
