Victoria's Director of Public Prosecutions will appeal the sentencing of CBD killer Christopher Hudson for the attempted murders of stripper Kaera Douglas and Dutch backpacker Paul de Waard on the grounds they are manifestly inadequate, Fairfax newspapers report.

The former Hell's Angel who killed solicitor and father of three Brendan Keilar during a shooting spree in the Melbourne last year was jailed for a minimum of 35 years, which he intends to appeal.

Mr Keilar and Mr de Waard were shot by Hudson as they raced to the aid of Ms Douglas during morning peak hour on June 18 last year when they saw Hudson pulling her from a taxi.

During Hudson's trial, Justice Paul Coghlan did not impose additional sentences to the 35-year minimum for the attempted murders due to Hudson's pleas of guilty to five charges.

Director of Public Prosecutions Jeremy Rapke will appeal the attempted murder sentences, but not the minimum prison sentence, on the grounds they are "manifestly inadequate".
