A TEENAGER accused of murdering her stepfather endured years of sexual assault from him, a court has heard.
The 19-year-old is charged with murdering her 34 -year-old stepfather after his torso was found buried in the back yard of the northern Victorian home she shared with her mother, stepfather and their three other children.
Police also found four bags containing other parts of his body in a bushland drop toilet in April last year.
The Shepparton Magistrates' Court yesterday heard the teenager, who cannot be identified, had a physical relationship with her stepfather who allegedly slept in her room, walked in on her in the shower and spent time with her in a backyard shed.
The accused woman's mother, 39, yesterday told the court her partner would stay up late with her daughter, force her to wear baggy clothes and not allow her to leave the house without him .
She said he also took her daughter to nightclubs and on weekend camping trips.
She said her other children told her they were always in the bedroom while she was at work.
"It wasn't right, the interest he seemed to have in her.
"It didn't feel right,'' the mother told the court.
She said she harboured suspicions her partner was sexually abusing her daughter but was assaulted when she confronted him and her daughter constantly denied it.
"I used to accuse him every day that there was something going on," she said
In a statement tendered to the court, she said "it just didn't add up" why her partner was "so controlling" of her daughter.
"She wasn't allowed to have a life unless he was beside her,'' she said in the statement.
"I asked him, 'What is going on?'
"He just laughed at me and told me I had bi-polar,'' the woman told the court.
The accused woman's boyfriend, 21, told the preliminary hearing he confronted the stepfather and accusing him of having a sexual relationship with his stepdaughter.
He said the man replied it would be okay if they were a couple because they were not blood-related.
"She told me he took photos of her when she was a little girl,'' the boyfriend told the court.
"I asked her why she didn't go to the police.
She said because he had told her he would stab her straight in the heart if she did.''
The teenager is on bail and was supported by her extended family in court yesterday.
Wearing a long skirt she showed very little emotion as her mother gave evidence, smiling only once when her boyfriend gave evidence.
The hearing before magistrate Ian von Einem is due to continue on Tuesday.
