QUEENSLAND police infiltration of online child pornography rings has led to the convictions of seven men in a US court.
They were all convicted in a Florida court this week on charges ranging from engaging in a child exploitation enterprise to obstruction of justice.
Also, two Canadian men have been charged, thanks to the work of the Queensland Police Service's Child Sexual Crimes Investigation Task Force, codenamed "Argos''.
The men were convicted in Florida following Operation Achilles, a Queensland Police-led international operation into the trafficking, distribution and access of child pornography images, which ran from January 2006 to February 2008.
Detective Acting Superintendent Cameron Harsley said the operation was large-scale and highly complex, involving law enforcement agencies across the globe, including the FBI, UK, Germany and local US law enforcement.
He said the child pornography network was highly organised and used sophisticated technology in the large volume transfer of child exploitation images across its membership.
The closure of the operation resulted in the execution of warrants and arrests of offenders in Australia, the US, Germany and the UK.
"As a result of this operation, not only have the offenders been identified and charged, including one Queensland man, there was also a Victorian man identified and arrested, but many victims have been identified and removed from harm,'' Mr Hartley said.
"This is always a motivating force for our team.''
