THREE teenagers who terrorised staff and students during an armed rampage at a Sydney private school should not be out in the community, a magistrate said.
Magistrate Gary Still refused bail for the three youths who pleaded guilty to being involved in yesterday's incident at Trinity Catholic College, at Auburn in the city's west.
The incident was a serious and intolerable situation and it was unacceptable to have young people who had terrorised a school out in the community, he said.
"(They) terrorised staff and employees and students," Mr Still said in Parramatta Children's Court today.
"It's an intolerable situation and so serious that bail must be refused."
Students at the school were placed in lockdown about 8.15am (AEDT) yesterday after four youths smashed glass noticeboards, a car window and trashed the high school's canteen.
The attack caused $30,000 worth of damage, police told the court.
The group used an axe and a machete during the rampage, the court was told.
Two 16-year-olds, a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old were arrested and all but one 16-year-old were charged.
The three teenagers pleaded guilty to six charges, including three counts of malicious damage and two of assault and affray.
They will be sentenced later this month.
