A Detroit man convicted of operating an Internet child prostitution network has been sentenced to 35 years in prison.

Robert Daniels was sentenced Thursday in U.S. District Court in Detroit. He was convicted in October of eight charges, including running a child exploitative enterprise.

The 29-year-old Daniels was accused of taking sexually explicit photographs of minors and posting them on Internet sites that advertised prostitution services. Authorities say minors and adult prostitutes also were taken to Washington, D.C., as well as the states of Maryland, Indianapolis, Chicago and New York.

A message was left early Friday for defense attorney Carl Jordan. He has said he expects to appeal the conviction and that the government's claims were exaggerated.
