Professional psychology is failing targeted parents and their children who are experiencing the attachment-related family pathology of "parental alienation" following divorce. Parents and children are losing their bonds of shared love and affection, families are being destroyed, and children are being psychologically abused and irrevocably damaged by the pathology of "parental alienation" surrounding divorce.

This petition to the American Psychological Association seeks the APA's active support in reaffirming its commitment to the standards of professional competence set forth in its ethics code, to ensure the proper assessment, accurate diagnosis, and effective treatment of attachment-related family pathology surrounding divorce.

The lack of accountability and ignoring the facts and professional opinions needs to stop. The lynch mob mentality and Kangaroo courts that go against even the most obvious travesties of justice must be held to account. There should be no difference in family court and criminal court when it comes to contempt. All persons that make false allegations should be charged and tried criminally and have to do the same jail time as would have been given to the falsely accused had their story not been found out.

It's the darkest place a parent can be living without their children. Being kept from them and the only way is to wait for a court date and even then the other party may not comply.

PA is a form of child abuse that does permanent, long-term, irreversible damage to the children and the targeted parent. Any other such type of abuse would be punished accordingly. Instead, PA is aided and abetted by a corrupt justice system of kangaroo courts, crooked judges, and morally bankrupt attorneys. It needs to stop decades ago, but I'll settle for now.

My children and I are victims of Parental Alienation and have been for near on 7years. The Family Court system is no different to any other country whose system enforcing PA. I will never give up my fight..

Some of you Aussies may remember when Four Corners told my story back in 2007 about how I lost my 6 kids after leaving the Exclusive Brethren in 2000.

Well, it's 18 1/2 years on now and nothing changed and they all grew up without me and there's grandchildren that I will never see. I moved to Asia in 2007 after losing all access to them just because they could and now I work as a teacher in Beijing, but I'm returning to Australia this year and hoping I can find a job again.

I went back to see the boys in February and they all lined up, tall grown men, and talked to me fairly freely. I took the opportunity to ask if they knew that I never wanted them out of my life and they said they knew that was so. Then I said, that if you hate me for that, I don't blame you, but I just want to say that even though it wasn't my fault, I ask for your forgiveness for the fact that you had to grow up without me, and that I wasn't allowed to be your dad. The boys acknowledged it and it seemed to give me a bit of relief.

Life can be cruel for some of us...

I'm going through this now with my children and I can't see my children or have them with me cause judge, cps, gals, and lawyers don't want to give them back and violating my children and my rights and they said we did nothing wrong and my children are still gone.

I was nearly killed by my abuser. He wrecked me financially and split up my children after I won my first case because he was relentless in trying to destroy anything I had going for me. He made me homeless twice. He got my car repossessed and another stolen then went back to court while he had my children over Christmas break and used that to keep my children from me. My oldest came home to me after a near death experience due to his neglect and was ousted for another family who could benefit him. This man split my children up and does whatever he wants not what the order says. I've been harrassed non stop for 6 years. I am barely allowed to see or talk to my daughter and then he acts like everything is good til he gets her back when he does give her to me then it all starts over again. Get this, I have no record and he is a 2 time felon with violent offences, but he was the victim, and I had to fight even after I had been through hell. There is no justice for the real victim in the courtroom, only for the one with the cashflow.

I have been alienated from my child for over 5 years by her mother and her new husband the man she divirces me for. I am now in receipt of petition for adoption which will further impede my rights preventing all contact with her and further alienting my family making them as strangers. I am being threatened, I am being gaged, my voice is not heard, I do not have equal protection of law. My entire side if the family and I are being g erased from my daughter's life without just cause.

Children need BOTH parents and should be excluded from any bitterness parents have with each other. It is a violation of human rights to remove a parent who wants to love from his child or children. It is outrageous that we have to fight for something that is so basically common sense.

I’m an erased mother to one of my sons. My other son, who wasn’t able to be brainwashed by his other parent, is emotionally close to me. My alienated son has been screwed up mentally by all of this. My son said he loved me before his father ripped him out of my life. The court, therapist, and child's lawyer have all enabled this, as the father has manipulated all of them, including my son. Families like mine need help. Children and parents are being destroyed by these enablers.

My Son is going through a divorce and custody battle where his soon to be ex-wife is making false claims against him and the kids are suffering the most through this due to the Parental alienation going on by momma and her new boyfriend. I see the change in the kids over the last 8 weeks we are on our way back to court due to momma taking us back she want to change the temporary parenting plan that was set in November 2017 let stick together and support each other and everyone's children

Have not seen my daughter in 6 years. Father broke the parenting plan. Did not have the money to go back to court and was worried she would hate me more for going against her father. He has given my youngest daughter to his new wife who has never had children. Told her lie after lie about me.

Dad convinced the kids to lie based on the idea I “kidnapped” the kids, when in fact, I had a legal custody order. This snowballed into 10 years of court battles that impoverished me, left the children abused mentally and physically, and me erased by our adopted disabled daughter. A known sexual predator with a diagnosis of a psychopath has convinced the courts he’s the better parent.

I I know there a great many highly competent Psychologists in ppractice. But I appeal to you as professional colleagues to take aan more active role in family court reform. The old and discredited "parental alienation" arguement is still being used in ccourts. Judges are not renewing their professional knowledge and continue to remove children from protective mothers and placing them in the custody of abusive parents. If you would take the time to become aware of Barry Goldstein's work in this area and his book The Quincy Model and if you would encourage psychologists to learn about it, perhaps long needed court reform could move fowarward. My children’s father threatened my children to say things bad about me. I’m a great mother. Give my children the love and not use them like slaves to do laundry, do dishes, etc.... they are long 10 yrs old they should be children. The so call girlfriend lays on couch all day and does nothing and also they have a house cleaner come in to clean house. Girlfriend sticks her nose in and comes to every court appearance. She can’t even feed my children breakfas, lunch and even dinner. Children’s father has kids call me by my first name and tell kids to call me a F—,bitch, asshole etc.... This hurts me.
I can’t see or speak to my kids even when court order states. Children’s father has not followed 1 court order. Children’s father has filed false accusations on me and can’t prove anything filed. He should be placed in jail.

No child should ever be kept away from a parent that wants to be in that child's life. It is abuse of the child. For the courts to let this go on is an abomination.

Iam divorced and a Court order permits me parental rights regarding my children.My ex contravined this order in various ocassions and commits acts of Parental Alienation.Mediation failed and I will now file crimminal charges as she failed to comply with Court order. Also will as apply for Protection order as I am emotionally affected and intimidated by her actions.
My problem is how to proof Pariental alianation in court as it seems that legal system try to sidestep this syndrome .
